Sukhumvit Soi 49: getting there and what to expect

Short answer Soi 49 starts on Sukhumvit Road and runs north. Take the BTS to Thong Lo station (E6) and use exit 1. The walk to the corner is about seven minutes.

Getting there from the airports

From Suvarnabhumi (BKK), take the Airport Rail Link seven stops to Phaya Thai. Change there to the BTS Sukhumvit line and go eight stops to Thong Lo. That is 15 stops and one change in total.

From Don Mueang (DMK), take the SRT Dark Red line seven stops to Krung Thep Aphiwat. Walk about 255 metres to Bang Sue for the MRT Blue line, go 11 stops to Sukhumvit, then walk about 172 metres to Asok. From Asok, take the BTS two stops to Thong Lo. That is 20 stops and two changes.

Along the soi

The soi is 2,090 metres long, so walking from one end to the other takes about 36 minutes. There is no station near the far end, so plan your route from Thong Lo. Along the soi you will find 32 places to eat and two convenience shops. We could not find any places to stay along it in the fact pack, so check before you set out.

Sukhumvit Soi 47 and Soi 51 are the next sois on the same side of the road. Soi 48 and Soi 50 are across the road.
